1979
In August of 1979 ground was broken for the construction of the Broken Wave Music recording studio, originally a state-of-the-art research and development studio and international showroom for the Yamaha Corp.
1980's
In the late 1980’s the studio was sold and became Aire LA. A host of chart topping recordings were made at the studio by artists such as the SOS band, Motorhead, Barry White, Steve Perry, Ice Cube, Vanessa Williams, Teddy Pendergrass and more. Top producers such as Dave Grusin, Dave Rideau, Rob Chiccarelli, David Kershenbaum, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis and Jim Scott were frequently at the studio recording.
1990's
The studio was sold again and began the new millennium as Front Page Recorders. Artists such as Mariah Carey, Alanis Morissette, Korn, Beck, Bruce Springsteen, Sheryl Crowe, Social Distortion and others continued the tradition of top artists recording at the studio. During this time Studio A, the main tracking room, was renovated for the installation of a SSL 9080J console and a custom 5.1 surround sound speaker system. The other studio was split into a spacious mix/overdub room and a mastering studio.
2000's
Broken Wave Music acquired the studio property in March of 2006 and began upgrades to Studio A and a major renovation of Studio B to accommodate the installation of an 84 channel Neve 88R console with full 5.1 capability. We have installed an unusual collection of rare vintage and modern outboard gear that provides clients with a striking palette of colors with which to build artful mixes.
